I feel like the AO3 button just became a lot more intense for me just now.

I still think that the circumstances of David's inevitable Turning would have to be - exceptional. B

I personally feel like they’d argue and beat around the bush forever until it became an emergency and David’s dying and Jerry has to Turn him. But he’s also so damn afraid, because David is a pure cinnamon roll and Jerry wasn’t always Jerry. And Forever changes a person. 

Also, David would struggle with having to feed off of people. It reminds him of the hotel and having hunt the people who couldn’t find a mate, a person he eventually became, and he can’t, he can’t, he can’t. Together, they struggle through the Turning and it affects both of them.

But they survive it and they come out stronger for it.
