I’ve always loved the idea of Newt as a sort of - accidental dark wizard. A dark-is-not-evil wizard; one who happily breaks the laws of men left and right, but adheres to decent morality.
A dark lord who chats happily with vampires, who runs with the werewolves on nights when the full moon is a beacon across the sky - who cares for dragons and lethifolds and all the beasts lost or abandoned by the world. A dark lord as of old, who doesn’t care about humanity, whose passion is for his research and the pursuit of knowledge, not power.
