Just a wonderful reminder that “A Wrinkle in Time” comes out on March 9th!
It’s one of the largest budget films being directed by a Black Woman (Ava Duvernay)!
The lead is a young Black girl and has an incredibly diverse cast, impeccable music score (The incomparable Sade, anyone?), and breathtaking visuals taking the audience to an adventure of a lifetime!
So!!! Let’s show out how we’ve been doing to ‘Girls Trip’, ‘Black Lightening,’ ‘Black Panther’, and “Luke Cage”. Let’s make it another record breaker to remember #RepersentationMatters
I am so damn excited about this movie folks
I can confidentially state that A Wrinkle In Time was - absolutely foundational to my introduction to sci-fi literature and my burgeoning interest thereof.
It’s funny - it was such a long time ago that I literally cannot say for certain how I first came across the book. I can’t remember if it was one of the assigned readings provided via the school system. I can’t remember if I checked it out of the library on my own initiative. I can’t remember where I first read the book, or how old I was when I first did - I was young. I can remember that much. I was very, very young.
I think it was a gift. A birthday gift. I can’t be sure of that, but - I remember the cover. I was very, very young, and I thought the cover was the coolest thing ever. (I neither confirm nor deny that that was the entire reason I read the book in the first place).
I read the book, and I was blown away by it. I ended up checking out all the sequels from the library and reading those too.
I hold that A Wrinkle In Time is an exquisitely well-written book, with fantastic character development, wonderful science, a fascinating underlying philosophy, and it’s just -
Guys. This book was - is - just so important. Please, guys.
