Awwwww…..
*snickers* Sudden mental image of Ace meeting Cor, taking one /look/ at him, and realizing that the Marshall is his Uncle’s Guide, and ohfuck this is going to be a /catastrophe/
‘I think I know who your Sentinel is, Lord Marshall’
‘Um. There’s good news and bad news.’
'The bad news is that he’s five tons of crazy in a really bad coat, he’s a high-ranking Imperial, and he likes to think he’s funny.’
'The good news is that he’s insanely possessive and protective, would defect to your side in a heartbeat as soon as he knew of your existence, and spend the rest of his life utterly dedicated to you.’
I’m cackling. The image of Cor coming to the bar for a drink just popped into my mind and he’s not expecting Ulric’s Guide to tell him that his Sentinel is Ardyn fucking Izunia, Chancellor of Niflheim but whoops that’s how it is?
Cor doesn’t believe it until Ardyn comes to Insomnia to confirm (And Ace outs himself and Ardyn as Lucis Caelum’s) and their eyes meet and they click. Cor has to coax Ardyn into accepting the bond because Ardyn wants to accept it but he doesn’t want to hope.
He doesn’t dare hope.
(Later; Cor will have to deal with the fact that Ace is Regis son what and that his new Sentinel is a Lucis Caelum what but right now Ardyn is all but purring in his arms and okay sure, this is his life now.)
Ardyn probably wouldn’t believe it when his nephew called to tell him that he’d found Ardyn’s Guide; he would have come to Insomnia simply to indulge Ace’s (as he saw it) insistent misinterpretation, and garner the resulting amusement thereof - only to have the smile drop from his face when he laid eyes on Cor and they clicked.
Ace probably all but shoves them into a private room in the back of the building (that he’s already stocked with food, water, and the best soundproofing he could get his hands on) because he’s no fool and it’s probably going to take a while for his Uncle and the Marshall to hash out their issues. They’re also - well. Intensely private, with regards to some aspects of their respective characters.
…Cor also was more humoring Ace then anything else and did not expect to actually find his Sentinel. He’s privately bemoaning the utter mountain of paperwork he’s going to have to fill out later on, but right now - right now, he has a purring Sentinel in his arms, his head is blissfully absent of all non-Adryn emotions for the first time in his life, and Ardyn is just - projecting warmth and happy and MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE at him. It’s surprisingly endearing, and Cor - bends protocol just a little. Just enough to let himself and Ardyn Bond and Imprint in relative privacy and comfort, to learn the touch/feel/sense of the other, to let their selves mingle and merge.
