Yesterday, a woman stopped my coworker as he was coming in from his break.  In the parking lot.  She stopped him and made him stay there for at least five minutes straight while she screamed at him about how he was wasting his life away working at Chick Fil A.

My man Jackson is 19.  She told him his life was worthless and he wouldn’t amount to anything because he was working in fast food.

Now, Jackson has worked at at least five different Chick Fil A restaurants over the last three years.  He’s a valued employee– when he moves to another store, people are excited to get him.  He’s talented, intelligent, funny.

He had to leave work early today because he was so shaken from this woman’s hatred that he was physically unable to work.  To be honest, I’m unsure whether he’s coming back.

Please, please guys– even if this only reaches like fifty people– take some time to be nice to a fast food worker.  And please, never tell anyone that their life is worthless.  This should be a no-brainer for most people, but apparently, it’s not?

the Glaives, upon finding out that the two of them are together: ????

then they see Rain kill an assassin with his bare hands and things click into place because of course their capatin would fall for a tiny delicate looking man that could break someones neck without a second thought. of course he would.

:D

“See, the difference between a mortician and a florist is the biology of our dead bodies.” is something Rain would say.

Also. “I have shears. The kind that can take fingers off. Not a nice thing to do to them mind, and blood is bad for the soil. But seriously, try it.”

@theotherguysride @sparklecryptid

My headcanon is that Drautos didn’t know that his sunflower was perfectly capable of murdering a man trying to kill him, and the realization makes his heart go twang all over again. (Drautos stares. In a manner that makes the watching Glaives - distinctly uncomfortable.)

Finally: photos from my recent jaunt to AsiaPOP Comic Con PHL 2018!

Day 1 – I dressed up a little and picked up a lightsaber and met a pretty nice guy. (Leon Chiro, as Gladiolus Amicitia from Final Fantasy XV.) I gave him a scarf I’d made, and he was chipper and hearty and super energetic. Knew how to work that lightsaber, too ;)

Previously posted APCC Day 1 pics HERE and HERE.

Armiger-themed lightsabers, a buff and hearty Gladio, and me XD)

@sparklecryptid

Lightsabers and Armiger. This is fantastic.

…why am I suddenly picturing Thanatos’ weapon as something - distinctly similar to a lightsaber? An energy blade, something he makes himself via his experience working with mechanics, his expertise in magitech and the sheer insanity of a Lucis Caelum.

Crowe or someone: I think our Captain just had a ‘Oh no, he’s hot’ moment.

Luche: They’re dating.

Crowe: Doesn’t mean they can’t have ‘Oh no, they’re hot’ moments.

And Drautos probably knew that his sunflower could kill like, sabertusks and goblins and things but he never knew what his rank as a hunter was and thus didn’t know that Rain is capable of killing much much more than a few sabertusks and goblins.

“I’m going to have to file a report,” Drautos tells him like his hand isn’t on Rain’s ass as soon they’re inside his office.

Rain laughs and kisses him.

The report doesn’t get done until much later.

When asked later what his rank was before he retired Rain shrugs and tells him that he was only a few hunts away from being an Alleyway Jack.

Drautos needs a moment to reboot.

Drautos probably has a most unprofessional moment of ‘my boyfriend is hot and deadly and I am the luckiest man alive.’ He suffers a brief moment of wanting to tell everyone how skilled his wonderful boyfriend is before common sense (and his normal personality) reasserts itself.

@sparklecryptid

A personal headcanon of mine for the All the Bastards (atb) au is that Ardyn ends up giving each of his niblings a nickname/Suitably Portentous name fit for a Lucis Caelum - which all of them subsequently adopt as a middle name. Some of my thoughts thereof are below.

Thanatos Morpheus Bellaries (Lucis Caelum).

Thanatos, in greek mythology, is the god of death; Morpheus, the god of dreams. Originally, I considered having his ‘Lucian Name’ be Hypnos - greek god of sleep, brother to Thanatos - but then I realized that Ardyn would never, never, in a million years name any of his niblings after Somnus - even indirectly.

Bellaries came about because I wanted Thanatos to have a ‘B’ last name - it’s partially inspired by John Bellaires, a noted author of young adult gothic horror/mysteries.

Ace Aether Apollonian (Lucis Caelum)

Previously expanded upon in @sparklecryptid‘s excellent worldbuilding for blink (reality shivers)

Jupiter Penelope Bellum (Lucis Caelum)

Jupiter may or may not have a temper in her own right, but Ardyn probably found it a delightful irony to call his niece - who has a very warlike surname - after a figure stereotypically associated with patience in greek mythology.

Personally, I see Jupiter as someone willing to wait for what she wants.

Mercury Asterope Verses (Lucis Caelum)

According to wiki, the idomatic meaning of the name ‘Asterope’ is “lightning” - something which I felt fit Mercury, the youngest of the Royal Bastards, the wild child, very very well indeed.

As for her last name? I just liked the sound of it, and all but picked it out of a hat.

Bard Erebus Xazosin (Lucis Caelum)

In greek mythology, Erebus ‘was often conceived as a primordial diety, representing the personification of darkness‘; Ardyn fondly reminisces on all the time that Bard has Raised Hell. Also, in some respects - well. Ardyn thinks that, if things had been different, Bard could have made an excellent politician; they’re very blunt about what they want and who they are, but of all the siblings (Ace possibly excepted) Bard has the glibbest tongue.

Xazosin? Again, made it up.

Persephone Hesperus Theogenies (Lucis Caelum)

Hesperus was yet another name for Venus, the Evening Star, in greek mythology - actually, it was the name of the deity associated with said star. And Persephone - all of her siblings love her; she’s gentle and giving and absolutely 100% Not to Be Messed With. Persephone is the Iron Queen, is still waters reaching deep, deep, deep.

Also, I kind of headcanon her as a foster child; she picked out her own surname, one meant to reference her position as a Priestess of Ramuh.

Jules Euryphaes Verne (Lucis Caelum)

Euryphaes is a variant of Euryphaessa, a greek titan associated with ‘shining light, shining metals or jewels.‘ Yes, Ardyn went there - Jules = Jewels.

And ‘Verne’ is a reference to ‘Jules Verne’, a French novelist, poet, and playwrite - he’s the author of such classics as ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’ and ‘Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea‘

The last Royal Bastard has not been fleshed out yet; their name, personality, etc remain unknown.

something more…hmmm…emotional and poetic than how I usually write? i want it to focus more on the relationship and how nike and ardyn think and how what happened to them shaped them etc.

here is a snippet from the beginning that im not entirely happy with but it should give you the general idea:

There is a healer; or rather, there are whispers of one. Whispers of a man with moonstone braided into his hair that heals those with the Scourge; there are whispers of a healer who does not work for money or loyalty but because he cannot bear to see suffering.

There are whispers of a healer that is not named Oracle or Lucis Caelum and Ardyn-

Ardyn is intrigued.

(It is a very dangerous thing to have a monsters attention.)
