Alright! It’s time for some observation once more. While it is stated in the description of Ravus’ tech ability that it is a “Magitek source” I feel as if it doesn’t add up. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fully possible that Ravus is using Magitek weaponry to activate his lightning bolts.

But, why is it purple? If we’ve seen anything from the Magitek, it’s that what ever is powering them……

It has always been red.

There are no instances hinting otherwise, not even in Episode Prompto, where it would have been seen!

“But Nox!”You might say, “If it’s not Magitek, then what is it?”

An excellent question, dear reader! Although, you probably didn’t ask it to begin with.

Take a look at the name:

Last Rites.

Definition Of Rite

Does that sound like a mechanical function to you?

No, it is a act of holiness. And what is Ravus descended from?

The line of Oracles. Perhaps the holiest bloodline in Eos.

Ravus also says some very specific things throughout the game, such as:

“Power of the storm surges through my blade!”

And earlier than that:

“So, you’ve received the storm’s blessing.”

I always thought that Ravus knowing about Noctis acquiring the Mark of the Fulgarian was rather strange, but then again, A HUGE LIGHTNING BOLT TOTALLED THE BASE so I guess he would have noticed that something was different. But what if the reason he knew is because the Bloodline he comes from is, in a sense, bonded to it?

What am I getting at with this? I must beg that you look to the crest of the royal family of Tenebrae.

A vibrant violet, just like the lightning Ravus wields.

I think that these things are far too similar to be written off as just a gift of the Magi(tek) as we have heard in the past that Ravus’ super strength is possibly due to him being Oracle born, so who’s to say that isn’t the truth?

Fun fact! Nyx being finally found out by the Summer Court and his subsequent rejection of it was caused by a last ditch attempt by Luna and Ravus to get out of it.

It all ended up well when Prompto stumbled into it by accident. It left everyone very confused but the opportunity was taken for what it was.

And if Nyx ever finds out how close he came to being next in line for Summer King he will probably cry.

Oh wow, this is an awesome idea and I love it. Because Regis et al know exactly how dangerous a Lucis Caelum in full battle rage is, they know exactly how stupid it was for Libertus to just tackle Nyx like that.

But Lib obviously did too.

This Glaive (Whom Ulric had called his Shield, had joked with his father about in a way that spoke of long familiarity) had known exactly what he was doing when he stopped Nyx the only way he could. And yet he did it anyway. Because, whatever Nyx was about to do (and they don’t quite know, because so much of Lib and Nyx’s communication is non-verbal and all they could see was the faintest outline of a scythe before it shattered) was apparently dangerous enough, suicidal enough, that he felt the need to tackle Nyx through his armiger. It was bad enough that Libertus felt the need to pin him down and scream in his face until he snapped out of it.

But Regis et al don’t know of anything that bad – Regis has no weapons that would kill him to use, drain years from his life yes, but not kill him.

So, Regis asks – confused and solemn and enquiring and surprised.

And Libertus answers.

(Because he might not be here, next time. Might not able to stop his brother when he tried to draw forth the scythe.

Because Regis is probably one of the few that could stop Nyx in that state and survive, and after this Libertus needs the help)

“Your line has a Ring, Your Majesty.” He starts, even as he guards the man who may-as-well be his Prince and his father. “A Ring connected to a Crystal. A Ring to raise the Wall, one that slowly drains your life away, that judges and kills anyone not of your line for daring to wear it.” And maybe that isn’t the common knowledge that Lib believed it to be – judging by the shock on the faces of the Lucian royalty. No matter, he continues anyway.

“But yours isn’t the only Lucis Caelum line. And it is not the only with a powerful artefact. The other side of the family has an heirloom of their own.” Libertus almost wants to laugh at their naivety – at the way that heads turn towards him in disbelief. “A weapon. A godslayer. One that will kill its wielder, even if they are a Lucis Caelum – unless they meet very specific conditions. Conditions that are not worth the power the weapon can give you.”

“Conditions not worth that much power?” Some noble raised a disbelieving eyebrow, and Libertus has to fight back the urge to scoff or scream at them.

Instead, he looks over his shoulder at Nyx and Ardyn – at the living proof that meeting those conditions was never worth it. “There are things far worse than death, remember that.”
