To be honest, that is probably why Graves hasn’t gotten married and had kids yet. He knows exactly what it entails to be a Graves and the absolute nightmare that will go along with it. I can totally see him resolving to be the last, just so nobody else has to go through it. Because as much as we treat it as crack, this universe does have its serious moments and implications like what happened to the Vincents.
But then Graves meets Tina and then Newt and he just. He falls absolutely in love with them, but he doesn’t want them to go into this not knowing what it entails, just what kind of darkness will be entering their lives, determined to drag them down with it. Because Graves can’t do that to them, not without giving them the chance to run away while they still can. (Of course, they chose to stay with him. They don’t care, they love him. Jerry can go stuff it. He won’t win).
