Alexander O'Connell, son of Rick and Evie O'Connell, would have been just 18/19 when Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers headed off to boot camp—plenty old enough, I imagine, to have been drafted by one of the countries he might have served with during World War II.
Just putting that out there to share, now that the plotbunny’s taken up residence in my head.

As a preeminent scholar in Egyptian supernatural lore, Evie would have been a person of INTENSE interest to HYDRA.
What I’m saying is that Alex convinces Cap to help him and his dad rescue Evie from Red Skull.

I’m thinking something along the lines of Evie trained Peggy pre-SSR, and Evie doesn’t need rescuing so much as a jeep back to HQ after a bit of self-rescuing badass antics—a jeep Peggy is happy to provide. Honestly, she has no idea why all these meddling Howlies insisted on coming along for the ride.
