You know what I’d like to see in the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow franchise?

A prequel.

Yes, I know, technically this reboot is something of a prequel in its own right - it explores the background and transformation of Gabriel Belmont to Dracul, Prince of Darkness. But I’d like to see a prequel.

Focused on Dracula’s mother. 

Just - give me Gabriel’s mother. Gabriel’s mother, whose husband (an illegitimate member of house Cronqvist) died in a monster attack, desperately trying to buy time as his wife clutched their young son in her arms and ran. Give me Dracul’s mother, who was chased by wolves and demons until she was finally brought to bay, face-to-face with an Acolyte who reveals to her that said child will grow to be a threat to their Master, that they will kill him now to remove the threat -

Give me Dracul’s mother, who looks head-on into the shard of the Mirror of Fate that the Acolyte dangles in front of her eyes. Who sees - everything. Her son. His despair. His transformation. His murder of - of innocents, enemies, everyone who gets in his way. His own killing and subsequent transformation of his own son.

Give me Dracula’s mother who does not give a flying fuck and stabs the Acolyte with the kitchen knife she had strapped to her belt before stealing its horse and running for it.

I would love an entire game where you play as a young, desperate woman - no supernatural powers, no combat skills but the ones she earns through blood and sweat and sheer dogged determination - as she runs from the hunters trying to kill her son. Solving puzzles, tricking her way past powerful-but-neutral forces, avoiding Brotherhood Knights and minor demons alike as she desperately tries to flee the country, to get to safety - and all the while, is trying to come to grips with the fact that, supposedly, her son will become the monster. It’s a moral question of intense proportions - this is her son, her baby, but he’s going to become one of the most hated figures on the planet, what is she supposed to do?

Give me Gabriel’s mother, who fights and bleeds and whose personal motto quickly becomes ‘There is no fate but what we make.’ Give me Dracul’s mother, who almost, almost makes it -

Except at the last moment, it comes down to a situation where it’s her or her son. Only one of them can live.

The cutscene is intense as Dracul’s mother holds her little-more-then-an-infant son. Who tells him that she will always, always love him. That she can hate what he does, but still be proud of him. That she can be sickened by his actions, but still love him. That maybe he won’t need his mother, maybe he won’t think much of her in the future, but she will still love him.

Always.

And then she turns and sacrifices herself, and there is a smile on her face as she pushes herself down the Acolyte’s blade to slice its throat with her simple kitchen knife. Because she knows that her son will live.

…and maybe, after the last of the credits roll, there is a brief, such a brief snapshot of Gabriel Belmont, Lord Dracul, as he raises his head suddenly before slowly turning to stare into the mirror of fate…

Netflix Castlevania coffee shop au where Drac’s the ceo of a large company and keeps coming in to check on his son, Alucard, who’s a barista currently going to med school.

He doesn’t really register the redhead and the brunette who are always sitting in the corner. Sypha considers the shop to have the perfect atmosphere for studying. Trevor just appreciates its hours - he tends to make coffee runs at 11 pm.

One of my favorite au types

Simon faces him alone and doesn’t manage to hurt him at all. He starts bleeding at some point and Dracul stops, because he recognizes the scent of that blood. It’s like his son’s and it stops him short because his son is lying in a crypt below them all because he made a mistake. 

He asks Simon his name and wishes that the mirror was still here to determine the truth. But he knows it is in the part of his soul that still remains and swallows hard, but manages to tell Simon exactly what happened to his father. 

They go down, into the depths of the castle to see the crypt, picking up speed as they hear a scream. 

Alucard is there, awake and in pain. He’s staring at the mirror like the world has ended and it has for him. 

Simon gasps and Alucard turns and they just know. Dracul didn’t realize he still had a heart until then.

I know there wouldn’t have been MoF or LoS if Trevor hadn’t gone to Dracul’s castle, but what would have happened if he just didn’t decide to go? Fate would have probably brought them together again even then, but still. 

*snicker* I now have the mental image of Trevor just going out for a walk and stumbling across the castle. He backtracks hastily, and swears to never go this way again.

…except it keeps happening. Going out to hunt down a few birds for dinner? He runs across the castle. Heading out draw some water from a nearby stream? He’s suddenly walking up the entrance-way to Castle Dracula. Spinning in a circle with his eyes closed, pointing in a random direction, and walking that way? He’ll crest the hill and see the Castle looming before him.

(You know what they say; “If the mountain won’t come to Muhammad…”)

Eventually, Trevor might walk into the Castle simply to ask - politely - that Dracula make it stop stalking him.

MoF au idea

What if, when Alucard fought the demon thing (the one he encountered before Simon), he lost. Then Simon stumbles upon this vampire being tortured by the demon thing and well, something about him seems familiar, so Simon rescues him. By then, poor Alucard is traumatized and they’re both wandering around Dracul’s castle with Simon trying to help him heal. Then, eventually, they stumble upon Dracul who freaks when he sees Alucard who still hasn’t healed from his wounds/trauma

Between a hunter and his (dead!?) son, his son wins. Hopefully. Although Dracul might decide to take the ‘expedient’ route and kill the hunter before he can pose a threat to either vampire - which would result in Alucard throwing himself in front of Simon, probably shouting something along the lines of ‘touch him and die’

Trevor would have a quiet mental breakdown and stand in the sun a lot.

• He watches. Keeping his distance.

• He had accepted to watch Soma as he got a chance to study abroad. However, he did not expect to find them.

• He was watching Soma, nothing abnormal. Until a girl with quite the impressing pile of books collided against Cruz, causing him to lose his balance, almost falling face first against the concrete.

• However, someone else interfered, taking the chance to pester the girl.

• Alucard froze on the spot.

• It couldn’t be possible, could it?

• The girl apologized quickly only to keep bickering with the other one.

• At this point, he didn’t even give a shit if Soma saw him. He just had to make sure it was them.

• He was just too far away.

• They soon were on their way again, as Alucard fought the urge to just run at inhuman speed and stop them.

• He should have thought twice.

• “Arikado? Are you following me or something?!” Soma freaked. “I thought we were past this!” No you didn’t Soma.

• He just ignored him, and kept going.

• He just had to catch up with them.

• When he was able to spot them again, he didn’t waste more time.

• He knew it was impossible. Maybe even naïve, to do what he did.

• But he was practically a child at the time he met his friends, and you just don’t forget things like this.

• “Trevor!”

• The young man turned around with a raised eyebrow.

• “Uhhh… You’re talking to me?”

• He froze. Again. What was he even going to say? He was nothing to them.

• Sypha stared at him with a certain pity. She probably thought he was really confused, running to them and practically talking to two people he had never met.

• “Arikado! What’s going on?!” Soma soon found the three of them again.

• He gave up. There was no possible way, if they were really there, that they would remember. Not unless they were like Soma.

• “Nothing. I just thought I saw…” Trevor looked at him up and down.

• “Have we even met before?”

• “No. It was my mistake. I’m sorry.” He quickly walked away, dragging Soma with him.

• “What was that?”

• “Nothing of importance.”

They wouldn’t meet again until a few days afterwards. A night Soma had returned late at night, while both Sypha and Trevor had been doing… Pretty ilegal stuff. Do not judge her, it was Trevor’s idea.

• Going out at night as reborn ancient hunters, speakers and dark lords.

• Not a good combination, if I do say so.

• Which meant Alucard had already realized something wrong around the three of them.

• There comes a time in every dhampir pretending to be normal’s life, when you just say ‘fuck it’ and have to wing it.

• Take that werewolf as an example.

• “Cruz did your friend just float here?!”

• “Floating vampire!, Jesus fuck!”

• He doesn’t exactly know how he ended up alive in the 21st century, but oh boy, this really is something.

• The main reason for pestering humanity in the first place was boredom, so let’s just say he’s amazed at the amount of shit he can do.

• Which certainly means now using his power for good.

• ‘For good’ means, finding a useful alternative to being so damn extra and a drama queen.

• Which literally changes the world, is him getting into musicals. This is now his duty as a living (dead?) creature.

• The fact that musicals like ‘Hamilton’, ‘Les Miserables’, ‘Heathers’ and others are around doesn’t help his case.

• He wants to be a part of it. He actually has a dream right now.

• So he goes into every audition he can find, for whatever character he can find.

• The guy becomes obsessed, and humanity becomes obsessed with him.

• He literally becomes a star. He’s living the fucking dream, the lucky bastard.

• Everyone just knows about Walter Bernhard. And now, he realizes he’s loved instead of feared. He obviously takes advantage of it, plus the ‘not going out in public during the day’ gives him a really mysterious vibe.

• Even Julius is impressed.

• “Aren’t you going to stop him, Belmont?”
“Well… I mean, he isn’t hurting anyone, is he?”

• He becomes a diva.

• He no longer takes lives. The people give their lives to him, holy shit.

• He starts composing and writing his own songs and melodies, and before Soma can scream ‘Arikado!’ he has already organized his own musical.

• About his life. Of course, everyone thinks it is a piece of fiction.

• “And what… Is it… What you’re looking for, young Lord Belmont?!”

“You made me take my fiancée’s life! And you, may, pay!” *insert a fucking exaggerated fight with cheesy lines*

• “Nooo… This cannot be! My life! My soul! Betrayed by…! My dearest… Ally…!” You can hear the audience going ‘awwww’. “Oh! Oh Death! I beg to thee! Do not take my soul!”

• “All for this simple human?! Mathias! True evil! True manipulation! Death, have thee got any mercy left?!”

• He enacts his own death. The public cries.

• “Mathias, you bitch!” Someone shouts, while they throw freaking roses at the guy.

• He literally makes an entire monologue based on his goodbyes to the world.

• Julius’ pretty sure he’s on acid right now.

• He eventually moves on to Hollywood and wins an Oscar. He becomes an icon and idol and dedicates the rest of his career (and immortal life) to cleanse Hollywood from all it’s shit.

• He has a cameo on the 20th season of Stranger Things.

(This is what temperatures over 10 Celsius do to my mind)
