Remember when Alfred first starts traveling with Hugh and Bane at the beginning of Dragon Wing and Hugh tells him he’s going to have to trade his clothes for some peasant’s clothes because he’s dressed too much like a courtier
And then Alfred continues to wear that same outfit for the rest of the series
Remember when we learn in Into the Labyrinth that Alfred has been making his own clothes based on a pattern he got from Queen Anne’s dressmaker but like
His clothes still don’t fit??????

SOMEONE HAS TO HELP HIM. Also like can you even imAGINE him wearing normal Patryn clothes like

He’d look very cute.
But maybe they could just help him like, make clothes that ACTUALLY FIT?????

Come to think of it, I don’t think any of the Sartan but Ramu’s faction actually wear the traditional Sartan robes anymore. The Abri Sartan-hybrids wear patryn clothing, the former residents of Abarrach wear - well, just normal clothing, I think, and/or black robes, Alfred wears courtier clothing, and Zifnab wears whatever he feels like wearing (usually stereotypical wizard robes).
The traditional robes are yesterday’s fashion, and the patryn have to stamp down on a decidedly un-patryn-like urge to giggle whenever they picture just /what/ said robes would look like after a typical day in the Labyrinth.
