The first and only time it’s suggested by a council member that they use the princes as weapons Ace doesn’t snarl but bears his teeth in a smile that almost sent said council member running.
“If Noctis takes the field,” Ace says, his voice low and soft and dangerous, “It will be of his own free will. Not because one of you made him think he is a weapon to be used and thrown away.”
The council member then suggests that Ace take the field, that since he’s a bastard he’s not that important and Ardyn leans across the table in such a way he looks like a predator ready to pounce.
“I recommend,” Ardyn says, his voice like dark silk, “That you rethink using my nephew as a weapon. He is a Prince of Lucis. You would do well to remember that,” The councilor nods, shaken, and Ardyn leans back, “Besides, I think he deserves an apology, don’t you?”
