sparklecryptid:
ace, staring at the documents that will make him an Official Prince: i dont want this
It’s - a poignant moment. Because Ace doesn’t really have a choice, now that he’s been Discovered. Before, he was able to get away with denying what his parentage actually meant. The duty that came hand-in-hand with the magic roiling in his blood. Because with that power comes responsibility, and Lucis desperately needs everyone with Royal Blood. Needs it desperately.
It isn’t a choice. Or, if it is one, it is Ace selfishly putting himself ahead of thousands of thousands of people who need him. Who need a second Prince of the Blood Royal.
Ardyn sets a hand on his shoulder, an unspoken I’m here.
On a slightly less serious note - Ace probably decides that if he has to Officially Change His Name™, he’s going to do what he does best, bring spite into the equation and go all out.
The name change form subsequently reads that ‘Ace Apollion’ officially and legally changed his name to ‘Ace Aether Ardyn Apollion Ulric Lucis Caelum’. So there.
It’s not like nobility hasn’t had excessively long names in the past.
