ardyn: you must want the crown
ace: bold of you to assume i give a shit about the crown
Oh fuck.
It just occurred to me.
If they every try and make Ace wear a crown - an actual genuine crown, as part of his duties as an official Prince - he probably tells them flat-out that ‘The only crown I will ever voluntarily wear is the one the Sage wore. Unless you track that one down, I’m not putting anything on my head.’
…although that crown/coronet etc probably IS the only one Ace would ever accept, if they do manage to track it down, Ace probably hands it over to Ardyn ASAP. Win-win. Ardyn gets his literal crown back, Ace doesn’t have to wear anything on his head.
Ardyn probably finds the whole thing amusing. At least until Ace hands him the crown/coronet that as far as Ace is concerned belongs to Ardyn.
Ardyn has an emotion about this, he isnt sure what it is. He does laugh though when he overhears Ace promptly telling the council to stop trying to put stuff on his head.
also; now thinking bout ardyn makin a crown/coronet/circlet thing for ace and crowning ace and wow thats an emotion
Yes.
Just - picture it. Back before the reveal, when Ardyn ‘officially’ makes Ace his heir - Prince of the Lost and the Forgotten. He crowns Ace as his nephew kneels, the both of them surrounded by ancient ruins - old and abandoned, but still there, still standing strong despite uncounted centuries - and the stars glimmer in amethysts and rubies as the Sage raises the Hierophant to his feet.
Also: Regis et al, to Ace: You need a crown. Ace: I’ve already got one, thanks.
