If you’re going to be stuck in bed all weekend, you might as well do it with a good book.

Guys, I’m like ten pages in and hooked.

@caledoniaseries (if any of you remember me losing my shit for vampire Rabbie Burns tv series, same author) has done something very rare for me, which is to make me feel like I’m at home while reading a book about Glasgow, even if it is an urban fantasy AU version of it. The attention to detail ranges from the elegantly subtle to the downright fantastically sinister and I’m positively delighted by all of it.

I’m also slightly in love with the main character and her partner Dorian Grey (yes, That Dorian Grey). It’s entirely possible I’m just in love with the whole thing.

I’m absolutely in love with this opening phrase describing the city as “a derelict fantasy of cheap booze, bad cigarettes and terrible decisions” yass fam, Friday nights doon the dancin lmao🤘

I feel this a book a lot of you weird eldritch children of mine would enjoy so I’ll post a better summary and review when I’m upright. In the meantime however I’m going to keep ploughing through this like a runaway train and try to pretend like I’m not already writing fanfic in my head over Detective Inspector Dorian Grey. So far I’m losing.

Wow, thank you! Glad you like it so far :D

And Dorian! haha

DORIAN. He’s great. I love him. He’s my new son. I had to stop reading to do sensible things like eat and hydrate but I’ve yet to put it down since I picked it up a few hours ago. I really cannot express how enamored I am with the portrayal of my home city. It’s making me vaguely homesick but in a “I need an iron horseshoe, holy water, some salt and possibly an exorcist” sort of way. It’s great.

Really marvelous writing :)

That is a wonderful compliment :D It’s a universe I still love to write years later, and Glasgow has always been a character of its own to me. For good or ill.

For those of you who were asking, Caledonia is now being offered on Kindle! Thanks for those requests!

You guys made a publisher expand their range of availability for an author in response to demand.

I’m so god damn proud of you right now.

Sorry, everyone! Here is the US link for the Kindle version:
