Yes it’s called the mammalian diving response and it’s also why doing face masks and taking a shower is soothing. Our amphibian ancestors used this mechanism to slow down the heartbeat and lower body temperature so as not to waste calories while swimming (which is very calorie intensive). It makes you feel safe because predators are less likely to get you in water than on land. The fish brain is alive and well in all of us.

It’s literally activated by putting water on the face.

There’s a huge fire in Greece and I can see on tv how hellish it is. They don’t know if everyone is safe and they just said that the children’s camps have been evacuated, I can see animals running frantically around, so many trees burnt, more than a hundred houses destroyed and the fire is constantly spreading. It’s so windy and there are at least three different outbreaks (it’s probably arson). I can see the residents running to save themselves, the tv reporter is begging the tv anchors to run as well, the firefighters are backing up… it’s terrifying.

And of course no one on tumblr will spread the news and raise awareness because were just a lil’ European countries who cares if we’re burning am I right? We’re not the US about to lose free internet after all

Please, everyone reblog. Keep us in your thoughts (and prayers, if that’s your thing). The rain stopped. There are new outbreaks. They are afraid that there have been human casualties as well. The fire is spreading!

I had no idea about this fire. The ones in California are always all across the news but I really wasn’t aware of the situation in Greece. This sounds really horrible!

I do hope that the fires can be put out before there’s even more death and destruction.

I think that they’ve managed to control most of the fires. But we keep finding bodies..

There were 8 different outbreaks all over Greece last I read, so we’ve asked for international help. Hopefully this nightmare will end soon :(

update: More than 53 people died.

The air is polluted. Hundreds of houses got burnt. 150 adults are in the hospital suffering from burns nd breathing problems and 11 of them are cannulated. Good thing is, 16 kids from the people who survived the fire are in no danger.

Greece 2018:

A wildfire tears the area.Forests,properties,houses are burned out.At the same time a second wildfire takes place in the west Attica.More than 50 people are dead and 150++ injured.

And that’s just an another excuse for politicians to blame one another while noone is willing to take the blame.

Greece sacrifices people for one more time.

How many times have we seen the same play? Year after fucking year.

He is not impressed at all.

Aeon stares at the man on the throne. Stares because it’s not Regis on the throne like he should be, stares because it’s Mors that’s sitting on the throne and Aeon decides the moment that he doesn’t like Mors.

He doesn’t like how in the fifteen minutes that he’s known Mors, Mors has looked at Cor and Aeon the way a general looks at a particularly interesting piece of weaponry. He doesn’t like how Regis and the rest of Noctis’ father’s friends feel the need to keep Cor out of Mors’ sight.

No, Aeon decides, keeping his face carefully blank as Gladio steps in front of both him and Noctis. Aeon does not like Mors.

Mors’ gaze reminds him too much of the Imperial Generals he’s met. Mors looks as though he’d revel in bloodshed. Mors has the gaze of a warmonger and Aeon itches to wipe that cold, assessing look off his face.

Mors, from his seat on the throne, looks at Aeon’s group as though they’ve handed him victory on a gold platter. As though he expects Noctis, Aeon’s king, to fight for him. As though he expects all of them to fight for him.

Aeon has already decided he will not fight for him. He only fights for Regis because Regis is Noctis’ father and Noctis is his. Noctis has been his ever since he took a bullet for the boy and Aeon refuses to fight for anyone who looks at Noctis like he’s something to be owned.

All of the royal bastards are at Ace’s bar/restaurant because Ace is about to break the news that he’s having a baby congrats you’re all aunts and uncles.

Thanatos is the first to react and lifts Ace off the ground in a hug. Pretty soon its a group hug. Thanatos and Jupiter offer to stay in Insomnia to help out. Hemlock winds up coming over too because he’s a doctor and despite his gruff exterior cares about Thanatos’ family. Also he has tips for Nyx on dealing with pregnant spouses and tips for both Ace and Nyx on dealing with newborns.

Everything is fine, then one day, Hemlock and Ace are out getting groceries when Ace sees someone about to stab a kid who can’t be more than 18, and because Ace is a generally good person he shoves his bags at Hemlock who is already starting to rant and warps over to the kid and shoves them both out of the way.

The assassin turns to run, but Aeon is on his feet in a flash and tackles him to the ground and knocks him out.

“ACE,” Hemlock yells, “WHAT I HAVE TOLD YOU ABOUT MAGIC USE WHEN EXPECTING?!”

“FUCK OFF HEMLOCK IT’S NOT GONNA KILL ME ANY FASTER JUST BECAUSE I HAVE A BABY IN ME.” Ace turns his attention to the kid who is looking at him with cautious eyes. “You okay kid?”

“You have magic,” the kid says.

“Sadly,” Ace agrees.

“You’re not a Glaive or in the Crownsguard.”

“I’m not.”

Aeon considers this. Before he can say something Cor and a few other Crownsguard members show up and Aeon goes into Business Mode. He tells Cor what happened, and in the meantime Hemlock has come over to the scene and began bitching at Ace.

“You shouldn’t have done that.”

“I wasn’t about to let the kid get stabbed!”

“I could have handled it,” Aeon interjects and is ignored.

Hemlock looks like he wants to drop the groceries and punch Ace. Ace raises an eyebrow.

“You two need to come with us,” Cor says, breaking up any argument between Ace and Hemlock before it gets started.

Hemlock scowls. Ace sighs. Cor finally notices the way Hemlock looks like a leaner, smaller version of a younger Clarus without a beard.

He has a feeling this is going to go terribly.

*cackles* BUT OH! Cor doesn’t even meet Aeon until later because at this point Aeon has a Nyx and an Ace a d a bunch of weird royal bastards that call themselves Aeon’s uncles and aunts, so he doesn’t go to Cor.

He doesn’t even meet Cor until after he’s befriended Noctis. Maybe he tutors Noctis and Prompto because he’d be a senior when Noctis is a freshman. And then one day he gets invited to the Citadel.

He gets invited to the Citadel and he goes. Because screw you Ace he does what he wants. And blinks because the king, his Shield, the Lord Marshal and two people around Aeon’s age greet Aeon and Prompto when they arrive.

He had not been expecting this. Neither had Prompto. The two share a look. Aeon wonders if it’s too late to leave but he can feel the snap bond that formed between him and the big guy when they saw each other and it’s taking a lot for Aeon to stay put.

The big guy twitches a little like he’s having to restrain himself from reaching out and touching Aeon to further cement the snap bond. Aeon raises an eyebrow.

Noctis looks between the big guy and Aeon a few times. “Did you two just-”

“Yes.” Aeon says. Noctis makes a choking noise. Aeon still hasn’t given the adults more than a brief glance but he can tell that there is a certain- tense air to each of them.

“Aeon,” Regis says, not unkindly, “Perhaps we should take this somewhere else?”

“Sure.”

They wind up in Regis’ office. the big guy is introduced as Gladio and he apparently already has a guide, the other one that was next to him is introduced as Ignis, Gladio’s other guide and Aeon just raises an eyebrow.

It’s as though they expect him to throw a fuss.

He doesn’t.

Finally, Cor speaks. “Do you know who your father is?”

Aeon meets his eyes. “Yeah.”

Ardyn looks at Somnus, a grin tugging at his lips.

“You did always want a big family brother,” Ardyn cackles, “I daresay you got one.”

“You have no idea,” Thanatos mutters. Someone snorts. Somnus asks them if they are all his.

Tried on all King Regis’s clothes

Drew mustaches on all the royal portraits.

Except Somnus’s, which he burned.

Drank all the wine. Not necessarily because he wanted it, and he can’t get drunk. But just in case they decided to celebrate once he was dead and the dawn had returned, he was petty enough not to want them to have anything good to drink.

Actually he left one really good bottle but he hid it with an elaborate series of clues revealing the location. Written in Old Lucian.

Ignis finds it 2 years after the dawn returns.

Made an elaborate comic about his life and the astrals, with crudely drawn stick figures, that he inserted in every version of the Cosmology AND all relevant history books.

Painted his own portrait and hung it up on the wall. His portrait depicts him giving finger guns a la Prompto.

Collected every single hat in the Citadel and tried them on. He didn’t like any of them better than his usual hat, so he went through the Royal statuary and put hats on all of the statues.

Slid down the banisters because why not, it’s not like anything can kill him, right?

Let a group of Tonberries move in to the library.

Threw some of the Royal China off a balcony for no reason other than to hear it break

Played board games with the aforementioned tonberries.

He usually won, but they were very good at checkers.

Made a batch of cookies and left them for the crownsguard and kingsglaive who were constantly trying to overtake him and win back the Citadel.

Of course they thought they were poisoned cookies, but they weren’t. They were just oatmeal raisin.

Literally put on some thousand thread count sheets and ran around like he was a ghost just to see if anyone noticed.

Recorded a video of himself and put it on YouTube with “Real Ghost Sighted in Citadel!”

Got into fights on the internet about old Solheim history. And Lucian history. And literally everything else.

Twitter.

Set up the world’s most infuriating, depressing and trollish Instagram ever. (“Look how lovely the former Queen’s crown looks on this flan!”)

Made an Instagram account for the tonberries.

Actually, other than his long ago past as a Healer, the tonberry Instagram account is the most popular thing he’s ever done.

Catches up on all his podcasts.

Starts a podcast.

Attempts to teach the tonberries to speak so they, too, can have a podcast. (It doesn’t work).

Fixed the elevator for Noctis when he came back. he does not want to have his final battle with a king who was still trying to catch his breath from all those stairs.

Writes a letter adressed to Noctis that basically says “thank you” in Old Lucian.

Leaves it where he doesn’t think anyone will ever find it, much less be able to read what it says.

Ignis finds it, and knows exactly what it says.

He finds the letter next to the wine.
