i haven’t seen any noise about this on tumblr yet, but a fire has completely wiped out a small town in california.

they’re calling it the camp fire. over 20,000 residents have been evacuated so far, the last area estimates i heard were over an hour ago at 18,000 acres and its still zero percent contained.

this is the smoke from about 18 miles away from the fire three hours ago. if you know anyone near chico, paradise, oroville or durham california you might want to check they’re okay

UPDATE: 4PM FRI NOV. 9, 2018

the fire has completely walked over paradise, magalia, and much of the rest of butte county. it’s under 10% containment and moving towards chico, which was been mostly evacuated as well. it’s been documented as one of the top 20 deadliest fires seen in california. i know many of the people personally whose lives have been destroyed by this fire. my aunt and uncle’s home, of whom we’re very close to, was demolished last night, same goes for family friends and others who lived in paradise– which is completely gone. there are 5 confirmed deaths, several dozen missing people.

One of my former clients lost everything in this fire.  I took care of their cat for a few weeks while they set up their retirement home; it was something they planned on for years.  Every time they dropped off or picked him up, they would talk about it.  They just moved there in March.  It’s all gone.

Here are some places that allow you to keep your small animals with you (cats, dogs, anything that isn’t livestock)

You all know I hate talking about my shit on the internet.. but I don’t think I have any other choice at this point.

TLDR: my name is Iz, I’m a mentally ill gay trans guy and I am going to be kicked out of my abusive home as soon as I turn 18 in December and they can make me leave. Right now, I have no way of surviving on my own.

I remade recently after my parents found my old blog. I had been trying before to keep things as calm as possible between me and my parents but after they found out I was still gay they decided to kick me out. My parents are extremely religious and intolerant. They are paranoid about me leaving the house, my mom believes that my mental illnesses stem from demon possession and that I’m evil, I have gotten into fights with both her and my father because they have put their hands on me. They’ve put me in mental hospitals just to punish me. They monitor me and look through my things, break my things, take my door, wont let me leave the house, ect. They talk about me like I’m the devil and an abomination. They have done so much shit that I cant even remember at this point. My house is hostile and only its getting worse as I get older. Im not allowed to see an actual therapist anymore because they don’t believe any of them are actually “helping me”. They threaten getting me into anti gay therapy and believe that I am a lesbian and that I am delusional and many other things about me that aren’t true. My mental health is getting worse because of lack of treatment, I have no therapist to help me through my trauma, my mom controls my medicine and many times will refuse to give it to me. It is making my life a living hell to stay here every day constantly being screamed at, threatened, treated like shit and abused and I will have nowhere to go. All of my family has shunned me. The few friends I have live hours away. A plane ticket would cost upwards of 300 dollars. I would rather kill myself than live on the street or in a shelter as a gay trans man. I can’t make myself appear as a girl because of the way I look and people already know me here. There is no support in my town for trans people and I am terrified and paranoid to be out there alone especially with the anti trans hate I see going around because of Trump. I would try to work but in the past no one has even wanted to hire me because of the way I look. I live in an extremely conservative area and on top of that I’m disabled, and I have been waiting to see if I can get on disability.

ANYTHING, ANYTHING HELPS! I CANT LIVE ON THE STREET AND I CANT LIVE HERE. IM TERRIFIED AND I WANT TO GET TO A FRIENDS HOUSE OR AT LEAST AFFORD A HOTEL AND FOOD OR TO RENT A ROOM HERE WHILE I WAIT FOR MY SSI APPLICATION TO GO THROUGH. I only have until next month but I will try to save as long as possible.. Im trying to sell my things without my parents noticing.

If you’ve been watching the noise and paying attention to California, you’ve heard about the Camp Fire.

In a matter of hours, the fire jumped to 20,000 acres. This morning it reached 70,000. My town of Paradise, where I’ve lived my entire life, was consumed entirely. Very little containment has been reached and the situation is absolute hell.

My house was one of the first to go.

My mom and my sisters and I barely got out, in separate cars, and we got separated for 10 hours. My mom and little sister were stuck in Paradise with all my pets in the flames until my stepdad was able to get gas to them so they could get out. My cat was lost, and I personally was only able to grab an extremely small amount of my own belongings because I was helping my mom to grab important documents and photos and to get the pets situated.

We are now homeless, with no clue where to go from here, and desperately in need of help to get food, clothes, supplies, anything. My mom has been disabled for 3 years and we survive on a single income from my stepdad, who is a firefighter. His friends have been hurt trying to fight this. We have a dog with us, and two guinea pigs, and a bearded dragon.

My mom set up a fundraiser, even though we are not at all the type to ask for so much help.

Update

Here’s an update on the Camp Fire happening in Butte County in Northern California:

1. The fire grew from 70,000 to 90,000 acres and is still only 5% contained. It is now the most destructive fire in California’s history

2. So far there have been 9 confirmed fatalities. 5 of these people died in their cars while trying to evacuate

3. The last incident report I saw said that the fire isn’t expected to be contained until 11/30/2018 but this information might have changed by now

4. A total of 6,713 buildings have been confirmed to be destroyed (6,453 of which were residential buildings, 206 were commercial buildings)

5. A text to donate has been set up by United Way to help with recovery efforts. Text “buttefire” to 91999

6. All school in Butte County is cancelled for the next week

7. The air quality in Chico is extremely bad right now so please stay inside as much as possible and keep your pets inside if you can

The Honey Run Covered Bridge (built in 1886) has been destroyed and is no longer standing. This is really sad news to me because I used to go there as a kid growing up and I’ve spent a lot of time there with my friends as well. It was a historic Chico landmark loved by so many people

Here’s some additional information if anyone living in Chico or Butte County wants to volunteer. There’s also some information on evacuee shelters and animal shelters or if anyone is searching for a missing person.
