It’s such a fantastic book and while the movie looks good, it’s already clearly apparent from the first trailer that they took some very significant liberties with this adaptation. While that’s not necessarily a bad thing (just look at Blade Runner), it means that there are a lot of aspects from the book that will not be present in the movie and some of them (like the Biologist’s personality) are really significant to what makes the books so fantastic.
TL;DR: Read the book first, thank me later
