Nero didn’t think anything of it at first…until some random Fortunian he didn’t even know directly approached him one day, looked him dead in the eyes, and said:
“I take back every bad thing I’ve ever said about you. You are a fine young man, and I am SO sorry you have to put up with them.”
She walked away before Nero could ask her who “them” was referring to, but he already had a pretty good idea.
Over time, the random encounters became more and more frequent, with each encounter stranger than the last:
“I should never have called you a bastard child when you were younger. The alternative would’ve been so much worse.”
“Thank Sparda your mother was a prostitute. I can’t believe I just said that.”
“Please forgive me for all the times I have wronged you, Savior.” “Uh, I’m not actually the Savior…?” “Better you than those two idiots.” “…Okay fair enough.”
Kyrie has shown some concern about this, citing that Dante and Vergil’s frequent visits could potentially dismantle the Order’s religion, but Nero is just happy that Fortuna is finally treating him with basic respect and refuses to question it.
