I haven’t posted about this much because it’s very personal, but in July 2016 my sister took her 3 year old son to the doctor for what she thought was an ear infection, and instead found out that he had a tumor the size of about half a golf ball behind his ear that was touching his brain. He was diagnosed with Stage 2 Parimeningial Rhabdomyosarcoma and began chemo & radiation. The doctors were hopeful for a positive outcome when his tumor began to shrink, but in the past few weeks he’s taken a turn for the worse and an MRI yesterday revealed that the cancer has spread to his brain and there’s nothing more that can be done for him.
I’m absolutely heartbroken for my sister and her family. She has 2 other children under the age of 5, and these past months have put a huge strain on her family’s mental, emotional and financial stability. They live in Canada, so luckily their medical costs are not the big issue, but being a single mom of a sick kid is a full time job, and now on top of the everyday costs of feeding, clothing, and housing 3 kids she has to start worrying about funeral costs. If any of you are willing to donate/share to help her make it through the worst time in her life, it would mean the world to my family.
