TB’s self-induced forced oblviousness to what his magic is doing is just. amazing. he has an excuse for literally everythigng that happens and when someone comments on something and he, shrugs it off
obviously his tea does go cold he just has really good mugs so they stay warm longer thats all
and if he’s suddenly on the other side of the room, wow he needs to take a nap if he’s blanking out am i right
Caleb just- stares and goes along with it. obliviousness is obviously the way to go, if it works for TB… Prompto also gets in on it (which makes for some fun times when teveryone else finally figures out TB is a lc bastard because they ask about his magic and all three of them just go nope never seen anything like that)
and i like the idea of an arthurian name for TB but- maybe Drystan or Tallwch instead? not really feeling the name Pellinore

TB would. Well, he’d probably be neutral with regards towards any comparisons of himself and King Mors; he never met the man after all, and he’s simply Too Tired to take - either offense or pleasure in said comparison. More like he blinks, acknowledges it, and moves on. (A number of people who knew King Mors, though, would probably just. Feel the memories hit them as they see TB’s face crinkle in concentration as he goes over sheet music or frowns as he tunes his guitar.)
TB, as his coffee is suddenly miraculously the exact temperature needed to drink comfortably despite being boiling hot literally seconds before: Huh, must have left it longer then I thought.
TB, as the. apartment temperature is suddenly cozily warm despite it being the middle of winter with the heater off: The insulation here is really good.
TB, as he is suddenly five feet away from where he was fire seconds before after tossing a pillow at said spot in frustration: Nothing happened.
Also, random thought about TB’s actually name. Yes, he does have one - despite the fact that ‘TB’ has been his nickname long enough that basically everyone is calling him that.
…for some reason, I wanna give him an Arthurian-style name? One of the more obscure ones, like - Pellinore, perhaps. Or Pelleas. Except he never uses it. He goes by ‘TB’ most of the time with no one knowing what it stands for, the only one who calls him by his ‘legal’ name sometimes is Caleb - who tends to call him ‘Pelly’ sometimes, just because.

I am very familiar with the headcanon, yeah :D this is probably- a more neutral Mors who painted but was still a bit of a shit person
but yeah, people would definitely compare him to his grandfather if they knew

TB is mostly ignoring the fuck out of his magic, if he pretends it doesn’t exist it’ll go away and he can just focus on his music
(Course music is were his magic is best but…)
ooooo yes, definitely. Eosified and mostly at home instead of in a pub but he will definitely sing Hallelujah

I love their respective obliviousness! TB is oblivious out of stubbornness, denial, and sheer willpower, Caleb is willfully oblivious because Best Friend and Who Fucking Cares Anyway, and Prompto is oblivious because both of his big-brother figures are trailblazing How To React To These Anomalous Phenomena.
…the result is sort of a trained obliviousness that is hilarious (and frustrating) to behold.
…I have suddenly realized that my impetus for the name ‘Pellinore’ came from the ‘Battle of the Pelennor Fields’, a la one of the most important battles in Lord of the Rings. And I like the name Drystan! It would also have the side effect of making TB grumble about how he’s named after a classic figure of romantic tragedy whenever it comes up - it’s ammunition that Caleb hoards very carefully for exactly the right moment.
Also, I just. Have the sudden mental image of the Chocobros visiting Caleb’s apartment - less because of the suspicion that he’s Cor’s son and more because Prompto wants to introduce him to his surrogate Big Brothers, and TB just. Staggering into the living room, taking in the Prince and other High-Ranking People standing awkwardly around, and promptly glaring at his coffee cup. Before glaring at Caleb and protectively cradling said coffee cup to his chest.
“I don’t care if drinking too much coffee gives me hallucinations, Caleb. Get out of the way to the coffee machine.”
…also, to paraphrasesparklecryptid - in the best traditions of fandom interest, I’ve found myself subconsciously wondering ‘would TB play this?’ and picturing it as I listen to songs. Which has given me - several interesting mental images. Just - TB and Caleb singing songs like ‘Defying Gravity’ together, arms slung around one another’s shoulders and genuine grins on both their faces.
…also, TB singing ‘Dear Gina’ when he wants to creep people out/is in exactly the right frame of mind.
