She doesn’t take shit from anybody, not even Agamemnon, king of Argos aka her husband who is really scary.
She ruled over Argos for 10 years when Agamemnon was gone fighting innocent Trojan warriors, and she did one hell of a job ruling it.
She enjoys arguing because she wins all the time.
There are only two people in the world who are not afraid of Agamemnon. She is one, and the other one is Achilles. Achilles is a badass half-immortal fighter so of course why would he be afraid of Agamemnon, but Clytemnestra though gosh
She passionately defends her sister, Helen when people say Helen is the cause for the Trojan war, like fuck no bitch you dont get to bitch about my little sister. She points out that it’s men arrogance and pride what causes the war, not Helen, which I agree whole-heartedly.
She is as strong as a man, sometimes even stronger.
She single-handedly kills Agamemnon and his mistress Cassandra to avenge the death of her daughter and does not try to justify her crime like Orestes, who is a loser btw. When the Chorus tries to blame it on others she is like man fuck no this was me, this was all me and my action and and you’re not taking it from me I fucking murdered my husband and his bitch with an axe, lemme have this
And continues to rule over Argos for a good 7 years afterwards with her love interest, who plays the role of a butthurt puppy
She is the protagonist of her own story. She does not exist to make anyone better, to further the plot of another hero, to illustrate anyone’s virtues. She owns her story and she’s just as complex and multi-dimensional as any hero. She’s not sorry for acting the way she does, she’s not ashamed that she’s not the conventional ideal woman, she’s proud of the way she is. She does not settle down for less than she wants.
Basically Clytemnestra is my lesbian dream, she’s who I want to be, minus the killing husband part. But if my husband murders my daughter, I’m gonna fuck shit up and hopefully I can be as awesome about it as Clytemnestra.
