…also, I’m suddenly remembering the Good Omens/Coldfire fusion I started writing once and never finished, about - five, six years ago.

*ruminates*.

…I should really get back to that one of these days. I liked it. It featured a not quite crossover, but more of a one where Damien found himself [spoiler spoiler SPOILER] and he and Gerald [spoiler SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER]. Fortunately, Gerald was more amused than anything by the entire situation - which, to quote said unfinished fanfic, Damien took as no surer proof of the existence of a genuine miracle.

Seriously this fandom is microscopic and I can find so little quality fanart or anything over it that I cry inside.

Black Sun Rising, When True Night Falls and Crown of Shadows.

READ THEM.

Have I mentioned that I have a (sadly underpopulated) Coldfire Discord server?

Anyone want to come hang?

I mean, I guess this is about what we can expect right now because, like she says, there are a lot of fantasy series in the works atm.

The bad thing about being in a microscopically small fandom? You don’t run into a lot of people who know the source material, let alone ever had particularly fannish thoughts about it.

So it was awesome when the woman in the seat opposite from me on the subway today was reading Crown of Shadows (the old edition with the cheesy cover art!), the last few pages with Damien’s encounter with that mysterious young man up at Black Ridge Pass. I was doing quite well at hiding my giddiness over actually seeing someone else handling a book I absolutely love until she put it down and muttered “yeah, right, of course the fucker pulled it off”.

In moments like that, I wish I were braver at talking to strangers.

I really. really. want to write a Supernatural fic, circa Season 5-ish (as that’s where I’m at), which is a crossover with the Coldfire Trilogy. Because all this talk about God being missing/dead/whatever? Gerald Tarrant’s answer to that would be, “I created Him once, I can do it again. So vulk your apocalypse. Let’s get to work.”

 #this is basically gerald and damien in coldfire trilogy

@theperidotshade

Excuse me, I just saw your tags to this post and -

holyshitfuck you’ve read Coldfire too?!

Please pardon my excitement, it’s just - that’s like one of my all-time favorite book series, and there are so few people out there I know who have read and liked the series!

(And yes, I ship Gerald and Damien - romantically, platonically, whatever, they’re great.)

@hamelin-born

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally someone to obsess with!

They’re my favorite platonic or romantic dynamic of…pretty much all time, tbh.  (They’re tied with Morgon and the High One’s familial relationship in The Riddle of Stars.)

I really need to do a reread soon, it’s been ages.

@theperidotshade

*hugs* YES. SOMEONE TO JABBER ON WITH ABOUT COLDFIRE. About how perfectly imperfect these two are, and how it’s basically a race to corrupt one another (to the side of good, the side of evil), and how Gerald flat-out tells Damien what he’s doing and Damien has to make the choice between what is right and what is necessary and -

How Damien. Reluctantly admires Tarrant, for the sheer strength of will. For what he was, and for the thin thread of humanity that still clings to him. And Gerald is irritated with Damien’s attempts at Doing What’s Right, but still so very fascinated in some ways with how Damien has taken the Church’s teachings and made them real.

…eeeeEEEE can I share some of the fannish worldbuilds I did for this series re: fanfic that never got written with you?
