Headcanon that the reason that Bones is the only main cast member not shown affected by the anxiety-producing Gorgan in And the Children Shall Lead is because he’s so used to operating at maximum anxiety at all times that it didn’t make a difference
kirk: do you feel this…sort of this sense of dread? a creeping sense that something is not quite right, even though you can’t pinpoint any specific thing that’s wrong? a gnawing at your stomach, a tension in your shoulders, a catching of your breath as though a crisis is going to strike any second now?
bones: yeah just like usual
kirk: what
bones: what
Gorgan: I’m here, your worst nightmare
Bones: oh hey, any normal Tuesday
Gorgan: what
Bones: did I stutter? Now git.
Jim: Bones it was horrible, just awful
Bones: the anxiety? welcome to my world
Jim: no…I had to interact with kids
Bones: …welcome to my world.
I mean, it’s literally onscreen canon that this man once had an infamously brutal dictator threaten him with a knife to his throat and his response was basically just “lol go ahead and do it.” he took a record dose of a highly dangerous medication, slept it off without any treatment, and when he woke up he was just like “hm. that was weird.” one time he DIED and his only commentary on the experience was that the alien tech that brought him back to life was really cool. some fuzzy green alien’s fear-hallucination wouldn’t even get between him and his next cup of coffee.
