With Nyx it was sudden but soft. As though something had slid itself into his very being and made its home there, as though he found a piece of what he was missing and suddenly everything seemed more bearable.

With Cor, if we’re going with that they bond while sparring, it was slower and their spar became more of a dance and this time ardyn was aware of what was happening and overjoyed with it. because he has two guides now, two guides and neither rejected him.

I figured out a simple guide to the alignment chart last night

Lawful: Rules matter more to me than individuals.
Chaotic: Individuals matter more to me than rules.

Good: Other people’s well-being is more important than my own.
Evil: My own well-being is more important than other people’s.

Neutrals: My opinion of what is more important is determined on a case-by-case basis.

So a Lawful Good character’s guiding moral philosophy might be “I follow the rules because the rules keep people safe, even if they are sometimes inconvenient or harmful to me or other individuals.” A Chaotic Evil character’s guiding moral philosophy would be like “Screw the rules and screw you.”

This is a very succint way of explaining a long post from a few months ago. It is also kind of how it was originally written, and is what I use. No more “Is he chaotic neutral or chaotic evil” questions.

It also makes Evil a playable alignment

Emergency donations for baby formula

TLDR // I had an emergency csection and the drugs they used caused me to have a seizure and had me in the ICU for 4 days and now I’m still in the hospital with mysterious illness/fever and didn’t account on not being able to breastfeed/going to have to do formula for at least three weeks. So I’m going to need help with paying for that since I can’t feed him with the medicine I’ll be on. I can’t go to wic since I have to do that in person… And I’m just so nervous and irritated because I only want the best for my baby but here I am in the hospital without an exit date. So please if u can pls help this new mama out so she can feed her baby.

This is a post aimed at me and other people who constantly fall into guilt spirals over all the things they can’t do, and feel they should somehow magically be able to do anyway.

For me, and for the others, this is a gentle reminder:

- Posts asking for monetary donations are speaking to people who have money. Not your broke ass, still worrying how to buy food next month.

- Posts asking you to care about [extreme injustice of the day] are speaking to people who have energy to care. Not you, hanging onto your sanity by the fingernails.

And, most importantly: posts telling you that you are horrible/cheap/awful/rude/unworthy/unlikable if you don’t pay/reblog/signal boost/care? Those posts can fucking die in a fire.

TL;DR: Posts asking for shit you are not physically or mentally able to give?

THOSE POSTS ARE NOT FOR YOU.

There are three basic categories of fic writer:

type one: fan fiction is a love letter to canon, only small changes unless it’s an au!!

type two: the source material can bite me, I don’t give a fuck

type three: horny

sorry, I forgot one

type four: canon COULD be so good if it wasn’t so straight/white/horny, so I fixed it while holding unblinking eye contact with the creator and mouthing ‘die’

The most important writing lesson I ever learned was not in a screenwriting class, but a fiction class.

This was senior year of college.  Most of us had already been accepted into grad school of some sort. We felt powerful, we felt talented, and most of all, we felt artistic.

It was the advanced fiction workshop, and we did an entire round of workshops with everyone’s best stories, their most advanced work, their most polished pieces. It was very technical and, most of all, very artistic.

IE: They were boring pieces of pretentious crap.

Now the teacher was either a genius OR was tired of our shit, and decided to give us a challenge.  Flash fiction, he said. Write something as quickly as possible.  Make it stupid.  Make it not mean a thing, just be a quick little blast of words.

And, of course, we all got stupid.  Little one and two pages of prose without the barriers that it must be good. Little flashes of characters, little bits of scenarios.

And they were electric.  All of them. So interesting, so vivid, not held back by the need to write important things or artistic things.

One sticks in my mind even today.  The guys original piece was a thinky, thoughtful piece relating the breaking up of threesomes to volcanoes and uncontrolled eruptions that was just annoying to read. But his flash fiction was this three page bit about a homeless man who stole a truck full of coca cola and had to bribe people to drink the soda so he could return the cans to recycling so he could afford one night with the prostitute he loved.

It was funny, it was heartfelt, and it was so, so, so well written.

And just that one little bit of advice, the write something short and stupid, changed a ton of people’s writing styles for the better.

It was amazing. So go.  Go write something small.  Go write something that’s not artistic.  Go write something stupid. Go have fun.

Stupidity is, on occasion, a true thing of beauty

@birdfrenchforbird this is also relevant to the writing thing we were talking about last night

Yes. As much as I love Uncle!Ardyn I think it’s important to remember that he isn’t a nice person. That even though he cares for what’s his he doesn’t care for much else and wouldn’t hesitate to destroy people in a terrifying fashion. And that if he thinks you’ve betrayed him he won’t hesitate to destroy you either because once again, the man isn’t nice.

And I love him.

…so now reCaptcha is not allowing me to send in asks. To anyone. I just get - a prolonged ‘loading’ swirl, as if it’s about to bring it up but isn’t able to do so.

Any suggestions?
