For generations there have been stories about the Ulrics.
About their hunting prowess, about their ability to kill silently and gruesomely. About their possessivenes, how they protect what is theirs to their death.
There are stories about how the first Ulric was a coeurl that shed it’s fur because he fell in love with a human, how that blood made them different, powerful and how their enemies are right to fear them. Because when an Ulrics sets their sight on you you know your days are numbered.
There are stories about the Ulrics.
Everyone on Galahd knows them. They would be stupid not to. Do not anger the Ulrics, they say. It will be the last thing you do. But if you earn their trust and loyalty they will do anything for you. They will protect you with anything they have.
Those stories are bloody and gruesome and eerie.
Nyx has never put much stock in them. Especially after Galahd fell. If they were so powerful, why hadn’t he been able to safe his own?
(But the people look at Nyx, see the gleam of power in his eyes that is not the kings, see his animalistic grace on the battlefield, see him hunt and protect what he considers his without restraint and they whisper.)
Nyx ignores them. What do those old stories matter? (They don’t. They do.)
Then there comes a mission. They are supposed to dismantle a newly established Nifelheimr fortress but something went wrong. They already knew they were coming.
It was an ambush.
And Nyx, wounded and desperate, doesn’t want to see anymore of his people die. So he reaches deep into that wild part in him that has always been there, whispering, coaxing and he pulls.
Suddenly there is lighting where there shouldn’t be and Nyx is moving like he never has before. MTs and soldiers are falling before his blades and claws and fangs.
Then he roars and it sounds like a great coeurl of Galahd.
It is then he realizes that there was more to the old stories than anyone has ever truly thought possible.

My best-friend @keepthatenergy taylor was was arguing loudly with her family about her sick grandmother and neighbors called police the police detained her, did not inform her she was under arrest until she was already inside of the car and did not read her her rights until after arriving at the station and I’m like freaking the fuck out cause I’m sure she’s going to have to stay in jail until the morning and no one us telling us anything and they haven’t charged her with anything yet but I’m just scared that we won’t be able to make bail if it comes to that and her family is already under an incredible amount of finical stress we just want to be prepared we end up not needing the money we can send it back to anyone who donates????

Thank you all for the help so far! I finally got in contact with Taylor’s family late last night. Taylor was trying to break up an argument her younger brother was having with their Grandmother who is in extremely poor health right now and in her words according to a post she made before the police picked her up (which is on her blog if you want further clarification of what happened) he proceeded to get physical with Taylor then ran away. He’s been having a hard time adjusting since there grandmother has been sick and hasn’t been handling things very well and doesn’t really understand the gravity of the situation so in retaliation he called the police which did nothing but escalate the situation. The Police did not read her her rights until she got to the jail. They just went to her house and said they was detaining her. When she was finally in the cop car, the cop just said she was arrested. Her mother told me that bail is 100,000. To my understanding, the bond would be 10,000 then cus its 10% and everyone is already finically drained because Taylor’s mother had to take off work in order to take care of Taylor’s dying Grandmother who is in desperate need of surgery for a while now and Taylor has been the one trying to provide for everyone and her mom doesn’t know what to do right now cause she doesn’t have any help from any other family and we need her to not be in jail obviously since her family relies on her a lot. I already have legal help but of course would be open to anyone who could help us navigate this situation better and get Taylor out of there as soon as possible. I’d like ao3 to know that I love and appreciate its service to the fan community
but also, that the staff of ao3 need to remove the rampant amount of CP and rape fics from their site if they truly wish to be a source of service to fandom communities, because unchecked sexually abusive content harms all young members of fandom, and THAT is a disservice.

Anyway, in this house, we love and support ao3 as is because we know fandom history and understand that fiction doesn’t affect reality on a 1:1 basis unlike this yahoo.
Also, fandom isn’t just for young people, and young people should be taught how to curate their internet experience. Ao3 makes it literally so easy. Also, it’s not rampant. At all. You people are looking for things to complain about and making it bigger than it really is.
Also that is NOT CP because a real child wasn’t hurt to make those fics. Go after actual child rapists for Gods sake.
The entire reason that AO3 exists is that every other site started by saying they were just going to get rid of the child porn, and then the rape, and then the abuse, but then what they actually did was get rid of all the LGBT content, and all the support communities for survivors, and eventually anything that contradicted the political opinions of the people in charge.
So a group of fans came together, with no support from any company or organization except donations freely given by other fans, and they said ‘Fuck it, no censorship. At all. Ever. Doesn’t matter how much I hate whatever you have to say, I’m not gonna prevent you from saying it because then nobody can ever prevent me from saying the things that actually matter.’
And they made the best damn tagging and filtering system in existence at the time, so you could avoid seeing things that you hate or things that can harm you, but they never tried to curate what was and was not allowed on the site. Because they’d seen what happened to all of their predecessors, and they refused to let it happen to them.
No matter how many children started whining about things they had no comprehension of.
